About Me

About Morgan Overholt

Currently based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with 20 years of experience in graphic design and sales, I’ve dedicated my career to helping businesses stand out with visuals that deliver results.

After 15 years in the corporate sector, I took the leap in 2017 and launched my solo venture – Morgan Media LLC. Since then, my work and story have been featured in outlets such as Business Insider, and I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with clients including Microsoft, Kimberly-Clark, and the CDC Foundation, as well as hundreds of small businesses and startups.

In addition to my design work, I also run FreelancerFiles.com, a platform dedicated to freelance news, resources, and community. Through guides, workbooks, and 1:1 consultations, I share the strategies that helped me earn over $700,000 on Upwork and more than $1M as a freelancer.

“I’ve worked with various freelancers here and I’ve never had as good of a relationship as I’ve had with Morgan. She is the golden standard in my book. Great communication. Always meets deadlines. Helps to solve problems with creative solutions. Always a positive attitude. Anticipates needs and advises on options. Incredibly talented.”

How I got started

My passion for business and design started early. Growing up during the dot-com boom, I spent countless hours building fan sites with free WYSIWYG editors and .tk domains — what began as a hobby quickly became the foundation of a career.

That curiosity led me to join my high school yearbook staff, where I first learned professional tools like Adobe Photoshop and PageMaker. Soon after, I landed my first paid role as a part-time graphic designer at OfficeMax’s CopyMax department. I saved my first paychecks to buy my very first licensed copy of Adobe Creative Suite — an investment that cemented my career path.

In college, I pursued a degree in computer science with a minor in digital media, freelancing my way through school while serving in editor-level roles on the campus newspaper staff. After graduation, I secured my first full-time role in the design field — and the rest is history.

My main areas of focus

Morgan Media LLC

Morgan Media LLC is my solo-owned freelance graphic design venture where I serve clients all over North America with graphic design needs.

Morgan Media’s services include logos, illustrations, branding, business cards, letterhead, flyers, posters, packaging, brochures, photo manipulation, infographics, e-books, white papers, slick sheets, proposals, slide decks, pitch decks, social media art, e-mail templates, billboards, conference displays and more!

Upwork Freelance

I also freelance on a site called Upwork – the world’s largest online talent marketplace. Upwork has proven to be an incredible place to connect with clients who are in need of my or my agency’s talents.

I joined Upwork in the Spring of 2017. To date, I’ve earned over $700,000 on this platform and maintain Top-Rated Plus and Expert Vetted designations with a 100% Job Success Score.

Freelancer Files

I love sharing my story and helping other freelancers kickstart their own self-employment journeys. That’s why I created FreelancerFiles.com — a resource hub packed with practical tools and real-world advice.

At Freelancer Files, you’ll find guides, workbooks, and the option to book a private 1:1 consult with me — all designed to help freelancers land clients, grow their business, and build a freelancing career they will love.

Blogging

In 2019, I submitted an article to Business Insider about my freelance journey on a whim. Not only did they publish it, but they also invited me to become a regular contributor. Ever since, I’ve been hooked on writing and sharing my story.

My work has appeared in outlets including Business Insider, Medium, and Collective, as well as travel blogs like TheSmokies.com, HeyOrlando.com, FreelancerFiles.com, and MiamiTake.com. I also share insights about freelance life right here on this site through my blog.
